How much am I paying for Facebook Ads? Is it worth it?
Tracking cost of Ads over time is easy. Facebook provides such metrics as COST PER MILLE, COST PER CLICK and COST PER ACTION (explained below). Understanding if you are getting return on your Facebook Ad investment is a little more complicated. It is a good idea to correlate COST PER CLICK with dollar value of one Ad Click. Ad Click Dollar value can be calculated from CONVERSION RATE (percentage of site visits from Facebook that lead to conversion, such as product purchase) and Revenue that comes from conversions. CONVERSION RATES are available from Web Analytics applications such as Google Analytics that Platform will also track for you.

IMPRESSIONS

Number of times your page activity is displayed to your audience tracked over time.
Description
Impressions is the number of times a post from your Page is displayed. People may see multiple impressions of the same post. For example, if someone sees a Page update in News Feed and then sees that same update when a friend shares it that would count as 2 impressions.

Description
Shows number of times potential clients clicked on your ads over time.

Description
Click-Through Rate (CTR) is the ratio of ad clicks relative to Impressions

Cost per 1000 impressions over time (CPM).
Description

Online advertisers typically look at CPM as a performance measurement for the cost-efficiency and value of an ad campaign.
Tips
On Facebook, Reach can be a more insightful metric than impressions, because it gives you a measure of how many people were exposed to your message and how efficiently you reached them. It's affected by how well your bid performed in the ad auction, your budget and the effectiveness of your audience targeting.

Cost per Click (CPC) tracked over time.
Description
Cost per Click (CPC) tells you how much you per Facebook Ad click. CPC shows how much, on average, each link click costs you. CPC is a metric used in the online advertising industry for benchmarking ad efficiency and performance.

The metric is calculated as the total amount spent divided by link clicks.

CPC = Facebook Ads Spend / Ad Clicks

Can I benchmark my ad performance?
Google Analytics can tell you how often ads are displayed and how often they are clicked. Combine above with COST-PER-CLICK and you get a great tool for ranking your ads. In Platform you can rank Campaigns and Ad Groups by comparing in real-time IMPRESSIONS, user ACTIONS (such as clicks) and COST. If click count decreases or COST goes up, you should look at fine-tuning your underperforming campaign and individual ads.

Actions shows how much people interact with the content. Factors that influence engagement include users’ comments, shares, likes, and more. This is an important metric to keep an eye on because higher engagement is a sign of great content.

Action Rate is a metric that is used heavily in analyzing social media. Because the engagement rate is calculated relative to the number of followers a company has on social media (or number of views), the rate for both small and large companies can be compared equally.

Action Rate = (Clicks + Shares + Likes + Comments) / Reach


Reach is the number of people who received impressions of a Page post. Reach might be less than impressions since one person can see multiple impressions.
