Avec Octoboard, vous pouvez facilement vous connecter à un document Google Sheets et afficher des données sous forme de graphique, camembert, table. Une fois que vous nous aurez indiqué le document Google Sheets, nous commencerons automatiquement à extraire les données.

Nous offrons un ensemble complet de fonctionnalités qui vous permettront de facilement vous connecter et de transformer vos données. Octoboard prend en charge les types de données suivants:

  • L'affichage de valeur numérique unique (avec suivi de valeur historique en option)

Conseils

GOOGLE SHEETS MÉTRIQUES

How do I connect to Google Sheets documents in Octoboard?
Connection to your documents is very straightforward. You can use our wizard to go through 3 simple steps from Google account login to data selection for your widgets. The following paragraphs cover each step in more detail.

STEP 1 - CONNECTING TO GOOGLE SHEETS

Description
To access the wizard do the following:

  • Press "ADD METRIC" button in the dashboard panel
  • Select "CUSTOM DATA" tab in the wizard
  • Select "GOOGLE SHEETS" panel as shown on the left

STEP 2 - SELECTING DOCUMENT

Description
In this step you will specify what document to use for data display.

  • Select existing account or press "ADD ACCOUNT"
  • To add an account provide your Google account login details
  • Once you connect to account - select a Google Sheets document from the list below

STEP 3 - SELECTING DATA FOR DISPLAY

Description
Once you have selected Google Sheest document, Octoboard will display its content. In this step you can specify the following:

  • Select type of data to display - single value, historic data, category data
  • Select data values the correspond to selected data type

With Octoboard you can select "Single value" and enable "Track historic changes". With historic data tracking enable we can display changes over time in a graph even for "Single value" data type.

We cover configuration parameters for each data type in the following sections.
What Google Sheets data types and visualisation does Octoboard support?
We support 3 different data types: Single values (with or without historic data changes) that is most suitable for numeric presentation; Value range - ideal for showing data series in graphs with dates along X axis; and Key-value pairs or "categories" - for data presented in tables or pie charts. For each data type a number of visualisations are possible - all discussed in the sections below.

SINGLE NUMERIC VALUE

Single value data for numeric displays (with or without historic data changes tracking)
Description
Single value data is a single numeric value read from a single Google Sheet cell. If we do not enable historic data changes tracking, the following visualisation types are possible for the single value data type:

  • Number with delta - you can specify time frame for delta calculation
  • Number or Gauge with target value - you can set target value in widget panel

You can select historic data tracking. If this feature is enabled, Octoboard will start tracking data changes and building timeline graphs automatically. The following visualisation types will become available in that case:

  • Line graph
  • Bar graph
  • Area graph

Once you have selected Single Value data, you can pick 1 value cell from the Google Sheets document to read data from. Make sure you select Data Sheet to read data from and define data cell either using your our or by typing cell reference in the edit box provided ("A1", "B4" etc).

You can select hourly or daily frequency of data updates. It will define how often Octoboard will try to connect to your document and re-read data value for dashboard display.

VALUE RANGE

Value range for display in data graphs
Description
Value range is read from data ranges stored in two columns of data in the Google Sheets documents:

  • Dates column that holds calendar dates for display in X axis on graphs
  • Values column that holds numeric values to display on Y axis in graphs

You can pick data ranges using your mouse or by entering columns manually in edit boxes provided. Once you have selected data ranges you can pick one of the following visualisation types:

  • Line graph
  • Bar graph
  • Area graph

You can also opt to show the last value of the data range. Octoboard will automatically detect data changes and display delta between last value and value before last. Pick one of the following data visualisation types for displaying last value:

  • Number with delta - delta will be calculated by comparing last two values
  • Number or Gauge with target value - you can set target value in widget panel

You can also specify how frequently you want Octoboard to connect to your Google Sheets document by setting daily (default) or hourly update frequency.

KEY-VALUE PAIRS

Value pairs or categories for pie charts and tables
Description
Key-value pairs is the type of data represented by keys (text values) and values (numeric values). They are sometimes called "category data". To load data you should specify two columns to read information from:

  • Keys - data column that holds texts (or "categories", such as pages of your website, for example)
  • Values - numeric values for each category (number of sessions for website pages)

You can pick keys and values using your mouse or by entering columns manually in edit boxes provided. Once you have selected data ranges you can pick one of the following visualisation types:

  • Pie chart
  • Table
  • Funnel

You can also specify how frequently you want Octoboard to connect to your Google Sheets document by setting daily (default) or hourly update frequency.
How can I access Google Sheet widget configurations?
Google Sheets wingets configuration is straightforward. As described above, you can configure document access, data type, data visualisation. These configurations are accessible through the following interface elements:

WIZARD AND CONFIG PANEL

Description
You can configure document access, data type and visualisation by invoking wizard and widget configuration panel. Click "ADD METRIC" or select "WIDGET MENU > CONFIG MENU ITEM" respectively to access these features.

WIZARD SWITCH MENU ITEM

Change widget data visualisation type directly in the dashboard
Description
This is the easiest way to change data visualisation. Octoboard know what data type is being displayed and will offer data visualisation options compatible with Google Sheets data being displayed. Go to "WIDGET MENU > SWITCH MENU ITEM" to access the feature.
