SENDGRID DASHBOARD

All your email marketing and automation metrics from SendGrid.

SendGrid is an email marketing service. It competes with MailChimp, Active Campaign, Campaign Monitor, Constant Contact, GetResponse and other Email Marketing SaaS products.

SENDGRID METRICS

OCTOBOARD metrics type icon: Chart line

PERFORMANCE

Key performance metrics - Requests, Emails Opened and Clicked.
Description
Requests is the number of emails you requested to send via SendGrid.

Opens is the total number of times your emails were opened by recipients.

Clicks is the number of links that were clicked in your emails.

ENGAGEMENT RATE

Email Opened and Lick click rates.
Description
Opens is the total number of times your emails were opened by recipients.

In order to track opens, you must have the Open Tracking app enabled.


SendGrid inserts a small, transparent image into all emails that will be tracked. When a customer reads an email, their client application loads the tracking image which registers the open event with SendGrid.

Clicks is the number of links that were clicked in your emails.

In order to track clicks, you must have the Click Tracking App enabled.


SendGrid can replace the links in your email templates with a custom link that when clicked, will redirect your customers to the original link from your template. When the user clicks, SendGrid will record the click event.

SEND REQUESTS

Emails send requests tracked over time.
Description
Requests is the number of emails you requested to send via SendGrid.

Whenever your application or server attempts to send an email to one of your customers via SendGrid, we will record that as a request to your SendGrid dashboard. In other words, when you send emails through SendGrid, you are essentially requesting, “Hey could you deliver this message for me?”.

DELIVERED

Emails delivered count over time.
Description
Deliveries is the number of emails SendGrid was able to confirm were actually delivered to a recipient.

A delivery is recorded when a request to send an email results in the email being accepted by the receiving server, however this does not necessarily mean that the message reached the recipient’s inbox. Some users and some email applications may filter the email away from the inbox even though the email was delivered to (read: accepted by) the recipient email server.

OPENED

Opened emails count over time.
Description
Opens is the total number of times your emails were opened by recipients.

In order to track opens, you must have the Open Tracking app enabled.


SendGrid inserts a small, transparent image into all emails that will be tracked. When a customer reads an email, their client application loads the tracking image which registers the open event with SendGrid.

Not all email clients load images by default. Microsoft’s Outlook, Apple’s Mail.app, Mozilla’s Thunderbird, and Google’s Gmail do not load images. As such, there may be many occasions where recipients will have received a message, opened it, and it will never be counted as opened because there is no way to track the event.

In Statistics the “opens percentage” is the total number of times your users opened your emails, divided by the total number of Delivered messages.

CLICKED

Emails clicked count tracked over time.
Description
Clicks is the number of links that were clicked in your emails.

DELIVERY RATE

Email delivery rate tracked over time.
Description
Delivery rate is the total number of emails that SendGrid was able to confirm were actually delivered to a recipient relative to the total number of Emails sent (requested to be sent).

Delivery Rate = Emails Delivered % Emails Sent

BLOCKED RATE

Emails blocked rate over time.
Description
Blocked messages will appear under Email Reports under Blocks. When your IP address has been added to a blacklist, has been blocked by an ISP or messaging organization, the affected email shows up on this list. Typically it is possible to have your IP address removed from a block list, and some lists automatically do this after a period of time.

Blocks are less permanent than Bounces, it is a list of refused messages that were either blocked by an ISP or deferred longer than 72 hours. In addition, SendGrid does not treat the blocks list as a suppression list, subsequent sends to emails on this list will be sent like normal.

BLOCKED

INVALID EMAILS

Malformed email addresses instances.
Description
Invalid Emails is the number of recipients that you sent emails to, who had malformed email addresses or whose mail provider reported the address as invalid.

An invalid email occurs when you attempt to send email to an address that is formatted in a manner that does not meet internet email format standards or the email does not exist at the recipient’s mail server. Examples include addresses without the “@” sign or addresses that include certain special characters and/or spaces. This response can come from our own server or the recipient mail server.

BOUNCES AND UNSUBS

Email bounces and unsubs rates tracked over time.
Description
Bounces is the number of emails that bounced instead of being delivered.


Unsubscribes is the number of recipients who unsubscribed from your emails.

BOUNCES

Email bounces count over time.
Description
Bounces is the number of emails that bounced instead of being delivered.

Bounced emails are either a permanent failure to deliver the email or a temporary failure to deliver the email, based on conditions with the recipient mail server.

UNSUBSCRIBES

Email unsubscribers over time.
Description
Unsubscribes is the number of recipients who unsubscribed from your emails.

UNSUBS DROPS

Number of emails dropped by SendGrid
Description
Unsubscribe Drops is the number of emails dropped by SendGrid because the recipient unsubscribed from your emails.

SPAM RATE

Spam report (complaints) rate over time.
Description
Spam Rate is the number of emails reported as spam relative to total number of sent (delivered) emails.

Spam Rate = Spam Reports Count % Emails Delivered
Tips
It is important that spam reporter email addresses are permanently removed from your send list even if the customer has previously opted in. Continuing to send to customers that have reported your email as spam can severely affect your deliverability rating.

Make it easier for someone to find the unsubscribe button than it is to find the spam button.

SPAM COUNT

Spam report (complaints) rate over time.
Description
Spam Reports is the number of recipients who marked your email as spam.

A complaint (or Spam Report) is when an email recipient identifies an email message as spam or junk by clicking the “report spam” or “mark as junk” button within their email reader.
